Do I need a new PC?
In some cases the answer is yes. However we can always improve existing system performance by performing general maintenance, which has in many cases resulted with the client being happy with their PC’s new performance. Sometimes an upgrade of certain components will be required to achieve optimal performance. A new PC may be recommended if it is more cost effective to do so. With the cost of our PC’s starting at $600 + GST, this is sometimes an attractive option. All recommendations will be discussed with you in detail, and the final decision will be left to you.
Is backup really important?
YES YES YES! Although our maintenance ensures optimum functionality, hardware failure isn’t always avoidable. Your backup may consist of automating a simple USB stick solution, or you may require a commencial grade fully-automated backup system. Backups are your only guarantee to full data recovery.
Our staff can’t access their email. How long before we’re back up and running?
From asking a few basic questions, we can get a fair understanding of where the problem lies and may even be able to resolve the issue over the phone. In more complicated situations, we will endeavour to attend onsite as soon as possible, keeping down-time to a minimum.
I don’t know much about computers, but is there anything I can do to try and resolve my problem before I call Reconnected?
The number one rule of thumb is to switch your system off, and then back on again. This ensures all memory is cleared and all applications are reloaded. In many cases, this simple procedure, can resolve minor issues. And of course, make sure everything is plugged in (don’t laugh, this has been the case on many occasions.)
I’ve got Broadband Internet on my computer. Can other computers in my home/office share this connection?

What is the benefit of mirroring, or striping your hard drives??
Mirroring creates two identical drives. The benefit of mirroring is that if one drive fails, your data won’t be lost. Striping writes information across two drives. This increases your read speed, and also increases your storage space.
Is it difficult to back up my data onto an external hard drive?
Not at all. It can be as simple as dragging and dropping a file from one location to another. Or for larger amounts of data, a batch file can be written to automatically back up files and folders of your choice.
Is wireless or WIFI secure?
Yes! Provided you use proper security and a complex password, consisting of a mixture of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters, wireless can be a very safe option.
Can I increase the strength of my wireless signal?
Yes, with the use of a WIFI antenna. These start at around $40 and will provide considerable difference dependant on the environment. We can also supply commercial grade antenna’s and dishes designed to boost the signal 10-20km’s.
